Dr. Milind Tambe is a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Southern California (USC) and the director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Society (CAIS). He is a leading expert in the field of artificial intelligence and has made significant contributions to the development of multi-agent systems and AI for social good.
Dr. Tambe received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and his master’s and doctoral degrees in computer science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He then joined the faculty at USC, where he has been a professor since 1996.
Dr. Tambe’s research focuses on the development of intelligent systems that can work with and benefit humans, with a particular emphasis on applications in the areas of security, health, and the environment. He has worked on a wide range of projects, including the development of AI-powered security systems for public transportation and the deployment of AI-powered robots to clean up oil spills.
Dr. Tambe has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the ACM/SIGAI Autonomous Agents Research Award and the AAAI Robert S. Engelmore Memorial Lecture Award. He has also been named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
In addition to his research, Dr. Tambe is also actively involved in promoting the use of AI for social good.
